Pupils at Manor Farm Junior School are provided with wide ranging and engaging opportunities to learn and develop Design and Technology skills. Pupils are encouraged to think creatively and be innovative in their learning through the stimulus provided. Pupils will explore a variety of different design tasks through cookery, structural design and product design. They will also develop prototypes and learn to model their thinking through developing practical skills.

Over the course of Key Stage Two pupils are encouraged to develop their thinking skills and improve their independent thinking. The pupils investigate current products and design solutions, being analytical in their investigations to identify high quality design through first hand experiences and learning about designers from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Through their experiences of the world around them and their investigations the pupils at Manor Farm Junior School should find solutions to the problems they face themselves or problems others face. Pupils set their own design criteria, develop prototypes and evaluate the quality of their designs for practical purposes, developing appealing products and making functional prototypes that are aimed at specific audiences or needs.
